A word about Sargassum:
Naturally occurring ocean seaweed generally drifts ashore during spring and summer. The Riviera Maya and Caribbean coastline seasonally experience shoreline accumulation of seaweed, or sargassum.
Properties are strictly limited to manually removing the seaweed. Heavy machinery, which compacts the sand, is prohibited on the shores of this designated marine sanctuary.
